KP Chair announces that WTO’s extension of a waiver on KPCS is approved

The Kimberley Process Chair has announced that the World Trade Organization’s extension of the waiver on the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme has now been approved. The waiver is critical for KP and rough diamond trade while marking a crucial milestone against the UAE’s Year of Delivery targets.

Last week, Martin Leake, Special Advisor to the Kimberley Process Chair, and Nour B. from the UAE’s KP team were on the ground with H.E. Abd Alsalam Al Ali, Director of the UAE Representative Office at the WTO in Geneva, to ensure the smooth implementation of the waiver extension, while also discussing the progress made during the UAE’s 2024 KP Chairmanship and the upcoming priorities for the UAE’s KP Custodian Chairmanship in 2025.
