ALROSA summed up its 2025 sustainability activities and achieved results, confirming its status as an industry leader in sustainable development. In 2025, the company achieved international recognition for carbon neutrality of its natural diamonds, strengthened its position in national and international rankings, and expanded its social, environmental and climate initiatives in the regions of its operations.
Sustainable Development: Climate, Ecology and Social Responsibility
Key achievement of the year was the verification and certification of carbon neutrality of ALROSA’s diamond mining operations in Yakutia and the Arkhangelsk Region, as well as the negative carbon footprint of its rough diamonds. This was announced at the Saint-Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025), attended by key global diamond industry representatives from China, India and South Africa.
Following the stage of field studies, the company received a final verification report from the international auditing firm TÜV AUSTRIA Standards & Compliance. As a result, ALROSA became the first mining company in the world to confirm through science-based certification the carbon neutrality of its production facilities through CO2 absorption by kimberlite tailings, as well as the negative carbon footprint of its rough diamonds.
Further developing this project, in 2025 ALROSA announced the launch of Russia’s first CCS climate project, aimed at increasing the efficiency of CO2 absorption by kimberlite. This initiative will significantly contribute to achieving Russian national climate goals and establishing new industry standards. Validation of the climate project is planned for 2026. Its capacity could reach approximately 25,000 carbon units per year.
The company continued to implement its Climate and Environmental Strategy with targets till 2035, investing in energy efficiency, renewable energy development, responsible water use and biodiversity.
In December 2025, the Nakyn Stream gas pipeline to ALROSA’s production facilities at the Nakyn diamond field was commissioned. Its launch improves the energy efficiency of production through the use of cleaner energy sources, and contributes to achieving the goals of ALROSA’s Climate and Sustainable Development Strategies targeting the reduction of direct and indirect energy-related greenhouse gas emissions (Scopes 1 and 2).
In the regions where it operates ALROSA continues to implement large-scale social programs, including support for indigenous peoples of the North, infrastructure development, healthcare, and education. In 2025, as part of the development of a comfortable urban environment, a new gas supply system was commissioned in the town of Udachny, providing modern and efficient heating facilities for local residents.
