Mr Prithviraj Kothari, managing director at RiddiSiddhi Bullions Ltd., president of IBJA says, “Gold and silver are extending losses despite a US-Iran ceasefire, overwhelmed by three converging pressures: an AI-stock-led risk-off selloff, a hawkish Fed pushing December 2026 rate hike odds to 86%, and yen carry trade unwinding as it hits a 40-year low. September hike probability has surged from 29% to 68% in a week, driving the dollar to 13-month highs. Thursday’s PCE data remains the next key catalyst. Technically, gold has broken $4,000 support (~ Rs 1,40,000), with downside risk to $3,600 (~ Rs 1,30,000), while silver has broken $60 (~ Rs 2,20,000), eyeing $50 (~ Rs 2,00,000). Oversold readings suggest short-covering bounces are possible near term.
