From 4th to 7th November 2025, the African Minerals Development Centre (AMDC), in collaboration with UNDP Africa, European Union, and Secretariat of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), will convene experts in Dakar, Senegal for the Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining Continental Strategy Book Sprint.
This gathering sets the stage for policies and partnerships that will empower Africa’s small-scale miners to shape the continent’s mining future #ASM to formalize, professionalize, and empower small-scale miners across Africa. It will focus on unlocking finance, strengthening environmental safeguards, and enhancing the participation of women and youth in local mineral value chains.
By linking ASM to Africa’s broader transformation agenda through the Africa Mining Vision and the African Green Minerals Strategy, the Book Sprint will help turn informal livelihoods into structured opportunities for wealth creation, environmental responsibility, and regional trade under the #AfCFTA.
