Debswana is participating in JCK Las Vegas

Debswana is currently participating in the JCK Show in Las Vegas 2026, one of the world’s leading jewellery and diamond events, to get insights and advance conversations on the future of natural diamonds and Botswana’s role in the global diamond value chain. During the Couture Show, discussions focused on how Botswana can better connect with younger consumers, especially in the United States. As part of these efforts, Debswana utilises traceability platforms such as Tracr to support the authentication and provenance of Botswana diamonds across global markets. A key message was that Botswana diamonds are not only beautiful and rare, but also support sustainable development, environmental protection and communities.

Debswana Chief Executive Officer Andrew Motsomi met with industry stakeholders to discuss new ways of strengthening the identity and traceability of Botswana diamonds. The discussions explored technologies that can help consumers better understand where their diamonds come from and build greater trust in natural diamonds.

One of the key messages from JCK was the need for natural diamonds to stand out in an increasingly competitive market. While Botswana, Namibia and Angola continue to promote the Diamonds for Development story, there is growing recognition that stronger storytelling, innovation and collaboration are needed to drive consumer demand.

Reflecting on the Debswana participation at JCK Las Vegas 2026, Head of Strategy and Corporate Affairs Wanatsha Moakufi said, “The event provided valuable insights into the changing expectations of diamond consumers, particularly younger generations.” He noted that the discussions reinforced the importance of provenance, traceability, and authentic storytelling in building trust and strengthening demand for natural diamonds, thereby increasing their value and visibility around the world.
