Juniors turn past-producing assets into new gold streams

Eldorado Gold and Thor Explorations are both advancing toward meaningful production profiles, marking a transition from junior developers to emerging producers.

Thor is pushing ahead with its Douta Gold Project in Senegal, West Africa, where a โ€˜robustโ€™ Prefeasibility Study outlines a long-life operation capable of delivering 1 million ounces of gold over 12.6 years, with strong early output of 411,000 ounces in the first four years.

Meanwhile Eldorado has two assets entering production in 2026: the Skouries Project in Greece, which is targeting production in Q3 2026 with commercial production in Q4; and McIlvenna Bay in Saskatchewan, Canada, an underground mine targeting commercial production also in Q3 2026, with an 18-year mine life.

This week, Eldorado announced that Skouries had entered the final stages of construction and initial commissioning, with first ore processed through the crushing circuit. Concurrently, Thor achieved its first gold pour at the Segilola Gold Project
