As gold prices continue to climb and imitation jewellery struggles with durability, a new category is emerging in India: demi-fine jewellery. At the forefront of this shift is KHEMIA (Khemia Jewels Private Limited), a direct-to-consumer brand founded by fourth-generation entrepreneur Nikhil Revankar.
Nikhil, born in Karnataka, moved to London to pursue his Master’s degree and went on to secure a successful career with a high-paying role. His work gave him global exposure in design, craftsmanship, and branding, shaping his professional skills and broadening his outlook. Yet, despite corporate success, he felt a persistent pull toward something more meaningful to honour his century-old family legacy and reimagine jewellery for a modern generation.
India is one of the world’s largest jewellery markets, yet much of this market is split between two extremes: high-value gold jewellery and imitation jewellery that offers affordability but lacks longevity. Khemia introduces a middle path with demi-fine jewellery, pieces that combine affordability with premium craftsmanship and modern design.
