Northern Star Resources Ltd. reported that strong mill throughput, coupled with increased volumes and higher-grade ore from newly established mining areas, resulted in strong gold production at its Pogo operation in Alaska.
During the second quarter of 2026, the Pogo mill recovered 84,059 ounces of gold from 381,693 metric tons of ore averaging 7.8 grams per metric ton of gold. This marks a 28% jump over the 65,662 oz of gold produced during the first three months of 2026 and is on par with the 84,339 oz recovered during the second quarter of 2025.
“During the quarter, underground mining and processing operated at an annualised run rate of 1.5Mtpa (1.5 million metric tons per annum), with stoping ore contributing 72% of mill feed, demonstrating the continued improvement in the quality and consistency of the ore feed profile,” Northern Star stated in its quarterly report.
With the success of that transformation, coupled with the Alaska asset hosting 9.3 million oz of gold in 37.96 million metric tons of measured, indicated, and inferred resources averaging 7.6 g/t gold, Northern Star CEO Stuart Tonkin foresees Pogo continuing as a cash generator moving forward.
