One of the year’s most unforgettable jewellery moments was Emily Blunt’s appearance at the 2026 Met Gala, where she wore a striking pearl body necklace by Mikimoto, worth an estimated USD 500,000. Draped across her torso, it featured over 800 Akoya pearls, a diamond collar, a 21.85-carat morganite centrepiece, and 45.97 carats of diamonds. The creation blurred the line between jewellery and couture, proving that pearls can be just as architectural and avant-garde as any contemporary high jewellery design.
