Solitario Diamonds sets sights on doubling footprint …

Vivek Oberoi often says he became an entrepreneur before he became an actor. He built his first company at 19, exited by 22, and spent years founding and investing in ventures across fintech, edtech, agritech, real estate, and more. But jewellery, particularly diamonds, was a long-standing passion.

“I love diamonds, but I don’t want diamonds with bad karma,” said Oberoi. “I don’t want diamonds that are coming at the cost of the tears of African children.”

These ethical dilemmas found a solution when he came across lab-grown diamonds through his now co-founder, Ricky Vasandani. “When he told me about lab-grown diamonds, it just blew my mind,” Oberoi recalled. “And he kept telling me, both natural and lab-grown are real diamonds, certified by the same agencies. That’s how our journey began.”

The duo decided to build a global, design-led, high-quality lab-grown diamond brand out of India. This marked the birth of Solitario.
