Cassiar Gold Corp. has identified several exploration targets across an 11-square-kilometer Northern British Columbia. The 145,800-acre Cassiar gold property is divided into two areas – Cassiar North, which hosts the bulk tonnage Taurus gold deposit, and Cassiar South, which hosts multiple high-grade gold targets. According to a 2022 calculation, the Taurus deposit hosts 37.9 million metric tons of inferred resource averaging 1.14 grams per metric ton gold.
This bulk tonnage deposit lies about 600 meters west of the historical Taurus Mine, which produced 35,000 oz of gold from ore averaging 3.5 g/t gold during operation in the 1980s. Cassiar’s 2024 exploration program included a geological mapping program south of the deposit that followed up on anomalous gold-in-soil results and higher-grade surface samples identified in 2023.
Mapping assessed volcanic-sedimentary contacts and investigated structural controls at priority prospects, refining target interpretations. Over 1,500 outcrops were mapped and selectively sampled, focusing on expanding previously identified alteration and mineralization zones. Out of the 161 rock samples collected across the project area, 34 had gold values greater than 0.5 g/t gold and 20 topped 1 g/t gold. Cassiar says the mineralized showings identified and sampled during the 2024 program have characteristics similar to Taurus.
