The British jeweller Krafft Jewellers has announced it’s closing its Chelmsford shop after half a century of trading. Family-run Krafft Jewellers, established in 1965, blamed “the trading climate,” the rise of online shopping, and mounting costs for the closure.
The Chelmsford branch, located on Duke Street, was the high-street jeweller’s sole bricks-and-mortar outlet. In a statement, the company said: “To all of our loyal and valued customers, I regret to inform you that after over 50 years of trading, Krafft Jewellers will be closing on March 31, 2026. This decision has not been easy, but the trading climate has become increasingly challenging over the past few years.
