PC Jeweller Ltd has announced a new initiative to support 1,000 certified goldsmiths in Uttar Pradesh by helping them transition into jewellery entrepreneurs. The company said the programme will focus on providing access to branding, design support, modern retail practices, and digital skills to help artisans participate more effectively in India’s organised jewellery market.
In a statement, the Delhi-based jewellery retailer said it has partnered with the CM Yuva Udyami Yojana to work with PM Vishwakarma-certified goldsmiths, known as Sunars, and assist them in building formal, legally compliant jewellery businesses. The company noted that this collaboration aims to create new opportunities for artisans across rural and semi-urban regions while strengthening the supply chain for the broader retail sector.
PC Jeweller’s Managing Director Balram Garg described the partnership as an important step toward recognising and elevating traditional artisan communities. He said, “PM Vishwakarma and CM Yuva Udyami Yojana have created a historic opportunity to recognise and uplift traditional artisans. We are honoured to partner in this mission to help goldsmiths (Sunars) move from informal, scattered operations to organised, high-value entrepreneurship with better designs, better technology and better income stability.”
As part of the programme, PC Jeweller will help artisans gain access to government schemes such as the CM Yuva Udyami Yojana and other credit programmes that can support working capital and business expansion needs. The company will also provide training in contemporary jewellery design, hallmarking, quality standards, customer service and the use of digital tools that have become essential for retail operations.
The company believes that formalising artisan operations can support long-term sector growth, as demand for certified, well-designed jewellery continues to rise across urban and semi-urban markets. Through this partnership-driven model, PC Jeweller aims to help prepare goldsmiths for modern retail expectations while preserving the skills and expertise that have long defined India’s jewellery industry.
